§1360.63. Medical Psychology Advisory Committee
A. A Medical Psychology Advisory Committee shall be established by the board for
the purpose of reviewing and recommending action on application for licensure,
recommending educational requirements for other medical activities that may be provided
by medical psychologists, recommending changes in related statutes and rules, as well as
other activities as might be requested by the board.
B. The Medical Psychology Advisory Committee shall consist of the following five
members selected by the board:
(1) One member shall be a physician who is certified by the American Board of
Medical Specialties or the American Osteopathic Association equivalent in the specialty of
psychiatry and who is licensed to practice medicine in this state selected from a list of names
submitted by the Louisiana State Medical Society and who is recommended by the Louisiana
Psychiatric Medical Association and the Louisiana Academy of Medical Psychologists.
(2) Four members shall be medical psychologists selected from a list of names
recommended by the Louisiana Academy of Medical Psychologists.
C. The executive director of the board shall serve as an ex officio, non-voting
member of the committee.
D. Members shall serve at the pleasure of the board. A vacancy in an unexpired term
shall be filled in the manner of the original appointment.
E.(1) The committee may meet as needed but shall meet at least twice per year. A
majority of the members of the committee shall constitute a quorum for the transaction of
all business.
(2) The committee may conduct and its members may attend and participate in a
meeting via electronic means in accordance with R.S. 42:17.3.
F. Members of the committee shall serve without compensation but shall be
reimbursed for travel expenses incurred in attendance at meetings and other official business
on behalf of the committee or the board.
