           The proposed Walker Community Resource & Recreation Center (WCRRC) in the Azalea Park area of North Lafayette, LA will be a multi-purpose, multi-plex facility that will provide a wide array of valuable services and resources for all age groups and ethnicities of this socio-economically disadvantaged and underserved neighborhood. Within the 1st and 2nd years of operation the leadership at the center will collaborate with various social, educational, economic and healthcare agencies to start and expand services that are dire to this population. In years 3 and 4, WCRRC plans to forge partnerships with local banks thru their community development programs as part of the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) to provide Personal Financial Literacy and Budgeting Instruction thru WCRRC. Additionally local banks, as part of CRA can issue credit to individuals of this neighborhood for purposes of home buying and provide ongoing support servicIn year 5, maintaining the established services and evaluating the effectiveness of each.es to help individuals sustain and be successful at home ownership.

          The proposed Walker Community Resource & Recreation Center (WCRRC) in the Azalea Park area of North Lafayette, LA will be a multi-purpose, multi-plex facility that will provide a wide array of valuable services and resources for all age groups and ethnicities of this socio-economically disadvantaged and underserved neighborhood. The agencies under consideration for inclusion are SMILE Community Action - a multi-parish social service organization, Council on Aging, LCTCS College Outreach and GED programs, Healthcare mobile services, Court's Youth Diversion Program, Cox Internet's Federal Affordable Connectivity Program for low-income households with students and/or senior citizens, LAWORKS job training, Second Harvest Food Bank, VITA Volunteer Instructors Teaching Adults, FHF of Acadiana - Families, Helping Families, The ARC - aid for individuals with developmental disabilities and special needs.

          The Walker Community Resource and Recreation Center will partner with the Louisiana Workforce Commission to provide job training programs that will consist of job readiness skills courses, training on how to search for jobs, how to create a resume, how to prepare for an interview and training on interviewing techniques.
The Center will also provide Internet access and computer access to the public and will be wholly open to the public.
