What is the entity's public purpose, sought to be achieved through the use of state monies?
The Family Justice Center of Central Louisiana (FJC) proposes to utilize the funding appropriation to enhance and expand comprehensive services for victims and survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. Our program’s overarching goal is to provide a coordinated, multi-disciplinary response that ensures safety, justice, and support for victims in Central Louisiana.
Specifically, the funding will enable us to sustain and grow our core services, including civil and legal counsel, support counseling, and case management, by continuing employment of dedicated attorneys, mental health professionals, and support staff, as well as establishing an additional office location to better serve underserved populations. This will facilitate easier access to vital services such as legal assistance for divorce and custody, trauma counseling, and crisis intervention.
Additionally, the funds will support the provision of emergency shelter, housing assistance, transportation, and victim supplies, addressing immediate safety and basic needs through emergency hotel stays, transportation, clothing, food, and hygiene items. We will also assist victims with court filing fees and other civil legal needs to promote their independence and stability.
Furthermore, the project will enhance awareness and coordination by providing 24-hour on-call resources for law enforcement and community partners across all parishes served, including Rapides, Avoyelles, Grant, Catahoula, Concordia, LaSalle, Vernon, Allen, and Winn. This will be achieved through training sessions, distribution of domestic violence awareness materials, and ongoing community outreach to strengthen partnerships and resource networks.
What are the goals and objectives for achieving such purpose?
Our program’s specific objectives are to deliver targeted resources and services to rural and underserved victims, increase safety by consolidating access in a single safe location, and foster collaborative partnerships with law enforcement and community organizations. The expected outcomes include increased access to legal and support services, improved safety and security for victims, and strengthened community awareness and response capacity. Overall, this funding will significantly advance our mission to stop family violence, empower survivors, and hold perpetrators accountable throughout Central Louisiana.
What is the proposed length of time estimated by the entity to accomplish the purpose?
