           Educational Broadcasting Foundation, Inc. (WLAE-TV) seeks state funding in the 2026 budget for operational costs for the television station. These expenses include salaries, equipment maintenance, interconnection, utilities, TV tower, insurance and professional services. These funds help support our 24/7 station operations providing high quality education, emergency and digital programming to the Greater New Orleans community across our broadcasting and multi-media platforms.

What is the entity's public purpose, sought to be achieved through the use of state monies?
          Since 1984, WLAE has been a public television station serving the population of Southeast Louisiana with high-quality and award-winning digital media content that educates, informs and inspires audiences of all ages. The station regularly produces and broadcasts programs in the public interest such as: NOLA Crime Crisis, addressing the number one issue on the minds of citizens; Affordable Housing Matters assisting low-income residents with resources for renting or buying a place to call home; Coping Today helps viewers with the rising mental health crisis prevalent in our society and Let's Talk with Keith Spera, interviewing the news makers from the entertainment, business and civic world. In 2026, the station will launch the documentary film, Fr. Harry - A Man for Others highlighting the accomplishments of Jesuit priest Fr. Harry Tompson who is responsible for creating The Good Shepherd School, Cafe' Reconcile, Boys Hope and Girls Hope and other institutions specifically for the underserved communities in Greater New Orleans; Finale -Carols Prieto and the Louisiana Philharminic Orchestra, tells the story of the Hispanic conductor and his rise to the helm of the symphony after the devestation from Hurricane Katrina; and Pass The Skillet, features the James Beard Award-Winning chef, Frank Brightsen, and the rise of the "Blackened Redfish" cooking craze.

In addition, WLAE is an affiliate of Louisiana Public Broadcasting airing LPB programs in the New Orleans market such as Louisiana The State We're In, Louisiana Spotlight and press conferences from the Governor's office during emergency situations.


What are the goals and objectives for achieving such purpose?
          The objective of WLAE is to provide television programming content for instructional, educational and cultural purposes as a public TV entity licensed by the Federal Communications Commission. The station provides these services free over the airwaves via broadcast television on ATSC 1.0 & ATSC 3.0 transmission formats including channels 32.1, 32.2 & 32.3 and is available on cable, satellite, digital platforms and on social media.
The goal is supporting public television broadcasts for the citizens of Louisiana. The station measures performance through viewer comments, emails, telephone and social media posts and analytics along withunderwriting support from individuals and business organizations within the community.
