Art. 742. Place of continued custody
A. Following the hearing required by Article 739, the court shall order the least
restrictive preadjudication placement consistent with the child's need for protection or control
as authorized by Article 737(A)(1) through (3).
B. The court may detain the child in a secure detention facility for up to twenty-four
hours, excluding weekends and holidays, only for the purpose of providing adequate time to
arrange for an appropriate non-secure alternative placement in accordance with Article 737
pending the adjudication hearing.
C. If appropriate, the court may also enter orders for evaluation or treatment in
accordance with Article 737(B) and (C).
