What is the entity's public purpose, sought to be achieved through the use of state monies?
The Early Learning Village campaign is a world-class project led by the Louisiana Children's Museum in partnership with locally based national leaders in early childhood development. It will be a model of collaborative innovation and holistic development, designed to provide playful learning experiences for young children and their adult caregivers. With a significant focus on trainings and workshops for adults - parents, grandparents, teachers, caregivers - the museum will be supporting early childhood policies adopted by the state in anticipation of having more children ready for success in kindergarten. Additionally, the site will be used as a demonstration site for green infrastructure practices and water and land management. Learning environments will be created to address key issues facing Louisiana children and families.
What are the goals and objectives for achieving such purpose?
Curricula, training programs, workshops and learning environments will offer parents, caregivers and educators information about healthy development of young children, specifically their cognitive, social-emotional and physical development. Early literacy and family literacy programs will be offered daily. Heath education will be offered through programs and interactive exhibits. Parenting workshops and parent engagement opportunities will offer skills on family well-being. We are developing a multi-week program on water management that will deliver new familiarity around hands-on engineering of restored coasts and shores.
What is the proposed length of time estimated by the entity to accomplish the purpose?
The Louisiana Children's Museum will be open to the public on an ongoing basis, beginning mid 2019 at this new site.
