           Mission- To deliver an intentional life readiness program that customizes a series of educational/training experiences that develop acceptable behavior, teach social skills and build self-efficacy. We provide individuals with the confidence, motivation and fortitude required to remain successfully engaged in a consistently changing environment with shrinking global reach.
Goals- The program consists of a series of workshops as follows: Financial literacy; Test-taking strategies; College preparation; Job preparation, i.e. interviewing, resume development; Communication skills, i.e., public speaking; Leadership skills, i.e. decision making, goal setting, critical thinking; Social Skills, i.e. networking, self-esteem; Entrepreneur attributes, time management, business etiquette. The overarching goal is to address the mounting problems of job and college un-readiness and develop the growth mindsets which are needed to overcome self-made barriers to success. 3L Foundation collaborates with secondary and postsecondary educators and job market analysts to maintain program effectiveness.

What is the entity's public purpose, sought to be achieved through the use of state monies?
          Currently, we are experiencing so many youth and young adults, confronted with new challenges, i.e. postsecondary education, job opportunities and family obligations, who are not ready to successfully engage in these challenges. For example, slightly over 34% of the total enrollment at Southern University in Shreveport LA is enrolled in developmental courses, which are for students who are not to be ready for college level courses; Bossier Community College had over 30%. In addition, job market analysts claim that over 50% of the persons in skilled jobs are not qualified for them. These levels of un-readiness are rising in our geographical service area—with the City of Shreveport representing the “heart” of this area. 3L Foundation’s programs are addressing these problems.

What are the goals and objectives for achieving such purpose?
          We plan to enroll 75 participants, 70% of which will demonstrate being prepared to achieve their education and vocational goals and as such will have successfully transitioned through life challenges in the global market.
Our expectations:
We expect our participants will be able to enter college without the need to enroll in developmental education.
Our graduates will enroll in a postsecondary program and finish this program within 125% of the time prescribed for completion.
Our students will improve, where needed, their grade point averages by three-quarters of one percentage point in their respective school district schools while enrolled in our life readiness program.
