Chateau de Notre Dame Facilities Corporation (Chateau), a wholly owned subsidiary corporation of Notre Dame Health System (NDHS), an agency of the Archdiocese of New Orleans (ANO), will construct two additional 16-bed neighborhoods and two additional 8-bed neighborhoods at its Wynhoven Health Care Center site with the purpose of expanding and enhancing the continuum of care for members of the community. The project will be built in phases with the first phase (Phase 1) being the construction of two additional 8-bed private room neighborhoods adjacent to the site of its facility operating as Wynhoven Health Care Center (Wynhoven) in Marrero, LA. These two 8-bed neighborhoods will be separately licensed as ICF/DD to provide care for residents with special needs. Chateau is working in collaboration with St. Andrew’s Village (SAV), a Louisiana 501(c)(3) corporation. The mission of St. Andrew’s Village is to provide a loving, secure community where adults with all degrees of developmental disabilities can live, work, worship, and socialize throughout their lifelong journey. This construction project will be completed on property formerly owned by the ANO which for many years housed the Hope Haven Campus to shelter and educate orphans and other children in need. These facilities have been dormant for the most part in recent years. The addition of a special needs project on this site is consistent with the history of Hope Haven. In Phase 1, Chateau is using its authorized $6.0 MM capital outlay funding to support the construction of SAV. The second phase of the project (Phase 2) will construct one 16-bed neighborhood which will be utilized to provide skilled nursing care for residents transitioning from hospital to home care. In Phase 3, another 16-bed neighborhood will be constructed to provide end of life care for hospice patients. These neighborhoods will be built in accordance with standards required for nursing home private rooms. In addition to the expansion and enhancement of the continuum of care for the community, the project will also include improvements and modifications to the existing facility. Site work will include demolition, grading, drainage, paving and utility work including new parking areas, driveways, a service drive, sidewalks, courtyards/patios and covered walkways. The overall construction plan includes new kitchen and laundry facilities and a new therapy gym. An existing 10-room memory care neighborhood in the nursing home will be renovated and expanded to provide two additional private rooms and community space to serve 12 memory care patients. The project will also convert another existing neighborhood with a current capacity to serve 10 memory care patients in private rooms to one with a capacity to serve 12 memory care patients through renovation and expansion of the space. This will increase the total capacity of memory care units from 10 to 24 private rooms and will provide additional community space for residents in need of memory care services.
