           CREATING NEW HORIZONS (CNH) operates as an alternative career pathway choice for at risk youth in high need/low-income areas through its Tri-Fold Holistic Model of Self-Development, Academic Development and Career Development. CNH leverages its existing partnerships to facilitate development activities that engage at risk youth in character/workforce soft skills, academic remediation services and job training/hard skills/career pathways that will serve to increase the supply of much needed skilled labor in the high need/low-income area. In order to facilitate at risk youth in this process, CNH recruits at risk youth from the community with a high need of economic development and engages its recruits in a particular career pathway training program that has partner organizations prepared to train and potentially employ individuals that complete the CNH Tri-Fold Program Model. CNH engages a cadre of its partnering organizations to offer wrap-around services for its recruits which may include but is not limited to Developmental Assets Acquisition, Asset Mapping, Resiliency Training, Counseling Services, Financial Literacy, Work Force Training, Academic Remediation and Home Buying Assistance.

          CREATING NEW HORIZONS (CNH) operates as an alternative career pathway choice for at risk youth in high need/low income areas through its Tri-Fold Holistic Model of Self-Development, Academic Development and Career Development. State funds will be used for general operating costs and to acquire property in which 3 affordable housing units (1200 to 1500 square ft. single family homes, can be built and sold to qualifying low-income residents in the high need/low-income area served. The CNH Recruits will be trained by our partnering construction industry professionals who will also engage the CNH Recruits in building three affordable housing units. In Monroe, LA there is a huge demand for affordable housing and our approach not only attempts to address this pressing issue but also serves to increase the skilled Construction Workforce Labor Pool as well as stimulate the local economy and tax base through the CNH Tri-Fold Model. In addition, CNH will assist in helping to retain local businesses that is vital to the city’s economy as well as recruit new business to the city of Monroe. Also, this project aims to decrease the amount of blight and crime in the affected areas through new home construction and renovation efforts. This project will further aid in the reduction of the wealth gap disparity through home ownership and increasing the local skill labor force pool in the affected areas.

What are the goals and objectives for achieving such purpose?
          CNH’s Goal is to have its program recruits prepared for entry level work in the construction industry and gainfully employed before the end of this project’s timeframe. A broader goal of CNH is to increase the economic development activities in the high need/low-income area to increase the viability of other business entities investing in the high need/low-income area.

Objective 1: Recruit 15 youth from the affected areas of Monroe, LA within one month of program start.
Objective 2: Retain 100% of Recruits after engagements with CNH’s Character Development/Soft Skills,
Academic Development/Knowledge Skills and Work Force Development/Hard Skills components.
Objective 3. To increase the financial literacy knowledge base of CNH recruits by 50%
Objective 4: Facilitate 100% of Recruits in becoming bankable in their community
Objective 4: Increase Recruits earning potential by 50% based on their entry into the program
Objective 5: Facilitate 100% of Recruits in being gainfully employed in the construction industry or any related
career field by the end of the timeframe
