Provide a summary of the project or program:
The thirteen-member public-private partnership New Orleans Recreation Development Commission (NORDC) was created in October 2010, after years of seesawing public funding and the 2005 hurricanes decimated what was then the public recreation system. The private 503(c)(3) NORD Foundation was established to provide equity access to quality recreational opportunities for all New Orleans citizens. It supports NORD’s mission to advance the physical, mental and social well-being of New Orleanians by providing safe and welcoming environments for recreational, athletic and cultural experiences. Such experiences advance greater health and wellness and pro-social community connections, particularly for youth.
NORD is a comprehensive organization, offering an expansive variety of cultural, recreational, educational, and athletic programs for all ages, ability levels, races, and interests. The vast majority of our programming is free to the public, and the majority of our patrons are at low- or moderate- income levels. We partner with a multitude of organizations, community members, and program providers to ensure we are working collaboratively and providing the best quality of programs to be accessible to all New Orleanians.
This proposal is to request funding for our Holiday in the Park Celebration. Located in New Orleans East, Joe W. Brown is a hidden Jewel for the city. This 64 Acreage Park houses a recreation center, natatorium, Football, Baseball and Track stadiums, several picnic shelters, a lagoon, Tennis Center, and several areas of green space for families.

What are the goals and objectives for achieving such purpose?
The goal is to provide a Holiday Light show experience for the residents of New Orleans East. This light show is the first of this kind in the area, and it is comparable to the other shows within the Greater New Orleans Metropolitan area. that charge hefty admission prices.
The New Orleans East community continuously communicates the dissatisfaction with its economic growth since Hurricane Katrina. Nearly 20 years later, a once thriving community faces one of the highest blight and crime rates that are disproportionately higher than other areas of the city.
What is the proposed length of time estimated by the entity to accomplish the purpose?
1 month
