           The funding is requested to help develop a Wellness park in Western Ouachita Parish. This will be used to convert a property that was the previous Calhoun High School track to a green space and a general use space for the residents of Western Ouachita parish. Plans include converting the original track to a walking path, install picnic tables, and amphitheater, a playground area, and a meditation garden. The goal is to provide a location to provide wellness activities such as walking. The additional benefit of a community gathering location to increase community pride. Already, events have been held at the location to include a Spring Fling, Relay for Life, nationally sanctioned chili cook off and more.

What is the entity's public purpose, sought to be achieved through the use of state monies?
          The goal is to provide a place for all ages to benefit from being outdoors and getting exercise. An accessible walking path will be beneficial to western Ouachita Parish by having a free, safe location to exercise will increase health and promote wellness. Also, a place will be created for the community to have to gather and host events. Local children will still have the capabilities of using the green space for sports activities.

What are the goals and objectives for achieving such purpose?
          A long term lease for the location has been secured with the Ouachita Parish school Board. The most pressing objective at this time is to secure funding. Renderings have been produced and updated to coincide with the current goals. The project will be staged to achieve results to allow operations to continue and to begin to generate self funding through rentals.
