           2022 was a near-devastating year for the State Fair of Louisiana, and without a one-time appropriation from the State of Louisiana, it might be our last.

COVID-19, inflation, and safety fears combined to push down revenues dramatically in 2022. Those issues, combined with poor weather during the fall 2022 State Fair, has left us with no option in 2023 other than to use all of our operating reserves simply in order to keep going.

The State Fair of Louisiana is requesting one-time assistance from the state in the amount of $600,000 for 2023.

The State Fair has been in existence since 1906 and has been providing economic impact for the State of Louisiana and a better quality of life for its citizens for 117 years. The State Fair provides agricultural education and a showplace for the many FFA and 4-H youth from all over the State of Louisiana. With the help of the State, we will continue to do it for another 100 more!

          The State Fair of Louisiana (State Fair) was founded in 1906 by a group of Shreveport's leading citizens. The State Fair was founded to provide an institution to assist in developing the agricultural and industrial resources of the area and for the betterment of its citizens.

The State Fair is located in Shreveport, LA and is the official State Fair for the State of Louisiana. It is a private, non-profit organization comprised of membership representing a broad cross section of Louisiana citizens with interest in the goals and objectives of the State Fair. The State Fair is governed by a Board of Directors elected from its membership, and is managed by the President and General Manager and staff.

The State Fair suffered great losses in 2022 due to the aftermath from COVID-19, inflation, safety fears and some bad weather which is depleting the operating reserves of the organization. With the help from the State of Louisiana, the State Fair of Louisiana will be in a position to continue providing economic impact and a better quality of life for its citizens.

          To be in a position to continue to provide economic impact, agricultural education, a venue for our 4-H and FFA youth, a better quality of life and facilities for the betterment of the community
