Provide a summary of the project or program:
Xtreme Measures Women Business Center was found May 2022. Our goal is to provide customized one-on-one business counseling, business management education and resources to new and existing minority women owned businesses. Our efforts are driven to help strengthen Shreveport by providing jobs and revenue to the City’s local municipalities.

The growth of Shreveport and north Louisiana is a shift from mandatory to voluntary participation, in conjunction with the objective to meet broader goals to center communities and customers, is driving the need to identify additional training providers to meet the cultural changes of the city by setting the program up for future growth and success. Xtreme Measures Business Center is geared to work to meet some of the demands of the need for improvement.

Currently Shreveport, Louisiana as well as north Louisiana has a low % rate of minority women owned businesses due to a lack of local resource partners, training, education, and support. As a matter of fact, Shreveport has also experienced weak employment growth over the past years with only three NAICS (industry) sectors showing any significant job creation. None included small businesses. In fact, since peak, the region has experienced a significant decline in total employment, as well as a decline in the total number of employers. There has also been a significant decline in new business starts. Since the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of businesses starts has declined and the number of existing businesses closed. There has also been a tremendous decrease in Small Business Labor jobs also. Xtreme Measures Business Center will focus on small businesses to help capture non-industry labor ready employees. XMBC will also afford small businesses the opportunity to assist with economic growth, economic survival from the pandemic and re-tooling and poverty in the area.
