           The Baker Economic Development District & Convention Center is a political subdivision and special taxing district created by state statute to provide economic and employment opportunities along the Baker /Plank Road Corridor of "Highway 67". The District includes a seven-member board of commissioners elected from various entities within the community, to govern and administer objectives of the district. The overall plan of this Economic Development District is to be a framework with a comprehensive plan to guide the community and economic development activities into the future by providing inclusive, coordinated processes and meaningful strategies that leverage the City of Baker area assets and expand the asset within the boundaries of the district. This plan and implementation will be of benefit to the residents, the parish, and surrounding connector communities for years to come.

          The entities public purpose and the overall plan of this Baker Economic Development District & convention Center is to be a core framework with a comprehensive strategic plan to develop a hotel and convention center around the Plank Road Corridor and to guide the community and economic development activities into the future.
This strategic plan and implementation will be of benefit to the residents, the parish, and surrounding connector communities for years to come.

1. Goal I. of the Baker Economic Development District & Convention Center is outreach to local businesses and the community to ensure public involvement in the planning process.
2. Goal II the District's Board of Commissioners will facilitate a series of meetings, workshops and focus groups -networking events and incorporate the community’s vision into a final report for the plan/economic development for the Council District 2 and the City of Baker and East Baton Rouge Parish.
3. Goal III to prepare Phase I and Phase II of how the project will be implemented with renderings/professional drawings and work with a developer to prepare for the Start-up
