Provide a summary of the project or program:
To retain and enhance the Museum’s reputation for excellence we must explore ever more creative ways to attract and inspire segments of the population to participate in Museum functions and programs and drive visitation. Importantly as the exhibits age we must continue to maintain the visitor experience in the same manner as when an exhibit opened and we must constantly search for new and better ways including advances in technology to attract the next generation of visitors to the Museum .The "Proposed new funding" request will support substantial upgrades to the visitor experience including a major refresh of our acclaimed multisensory presentation Beyond all Boundaries, renovation of the third floor of 1040 Magazine Street building to create an innovative immersive management and student leadership training experience for local students, university students and major corporations, a major refresh of the D-day Gallery now 23 years old, and a refresh of the USS Tang submarine experience. While the Museum’s major expansion is nearing completion, the tremendous success of the Museum is driving the critical need to upgrade our back of house support resulting from increased visitation, more successful event rentals and our expanded programing related to distance learning, research, content development and digitization. We must also continue to foster a work environment that attracts the best and brightest in the Museum fields. Capital Outlay funding will support emergency power improvements for the Louisiana Pavilion in order to protect precious artifacts during energy failures, construction of life safety improvements and other critical infrastructure projects listed in the submission. The continued success of the Museum is contingent on building facilities and expanding programs that will attract and inspire visitors from across the country, ensuring The National WWII Museum will retain its ranking as one of the top museums in the world, and the top destination attraction in the State of Louisiana.

What is the entity's public purpose, sought to be achieved through the use of state monies?
Complete the master plan for The World War II Museum creating one of the finest history museums in the world. Upgrade older exhibits and galleries to continue to attract the next generation to the Museum. The Museum will remain operationally self supporting and will attract over one million visitors each year to the City of New Orleans and the State of Louisiana. The Museum has become an economic engine for the City and the State and is a source of pride for its citizens The Museum tells the story of why the war was fought, how it was won and what it means today so that all generations will understand the price of freedom and be inspired by what they learn. Visitors to the Museum will understand that as stated by President Ronald Reagan "freedom is a fragile thing and never more than a generation away from extinction".

What are the goals and objectives for achieving such purpose?
To retain and enhance the Museum’s reputation for excellence we must explore ever more creative ways to attract and inspire segments of the population to participate in Museum functions and programs and drive visitation. Importantly as the exhibits age we must continue to maintain the visitor experience in the same manner as when an exhibit opened and we must constantly search for new and better ways including advances in technology to attract the next generation of visitors to the Museum . The signature experience of the Museum Beyond all Boundaries is 14 years old and must be upgraded. Upgrades will include remastering archival video, replacing old animation with state of the art animation, scenic improvements and upgrading supporting infrastructure. The D-day Gallery is 23 years old and must be upgraded to continue to attract new and younger audiences through use of technology, new media productions and immersive environments. The USS Tang submarine experience will be upgraded for the same reasons. In addition numerous campus improvements to better curate historic artifacts, provide better visitor experiences and better support our successful programming will be undertaken.

What is the proposed length of time estimated by the entity to accomplish the purpose?
           four years
