           This project will entail the expansion of current seasonal programming. Our mission dating back to 2002 has remained consistent, while utilizing the attractiveness of “sports participation” as the lure for delivering comprehensive sports development and life-skills enrichment services to Northeast Louisiana youth. However, to better meet the needs of our youth on an annual year-round basis, we must increase the frequency of delivery of our services for truly producing impactful outcomes in every area of the lives of our students. Having committed, dedicated, and highly qualified program staff members, will better enable us to bridge-the-gap for ensure our students will receive the essential developmental and enrichment services that will impact their future moving forward.

          To better equip and prepare our youth for combating the many everyday challenges that they face whether educational, social-economic, and or personal self-esteem based. Each contributing to disciplinary mental health issues. Our goal is to become a trusted ally for both students and parents/guardians to call upon as needed. Sports participation has always served as an outlet opportunity for most underprivileged youth. Therefore, resolve to utilize their sports interest as the conduit for instilling the critical life-skills values that will ultimately enhance their desire and efforts towards making better decisions and becoming responsible young adults. Establishing a firm foundation for empowering them to elevating themselves above the negative surroundings that many have fallen victim to on a daily, monthly, annual basis throughout Northeast Louisiana.



PSYM is seeking to bridge the gap that now exist in Bastrop and other surrounding communities, who are failing to provide ample recreational and personal developmental services to its youth and young adults. Our plan is to forge a partnership for working in conjunction with the Parks and Recreations Departments and Schools within cities for assisting them in better meeting the developmental and preparation needs of its youth.

What are the goals and objectives for achieving such purpose?
          One of the primary goals and objectives of our PSYM (Pelican State Youth Movement) delivery is to serve as a viable resource for local and regional families with children. If we can gain their “trust” by way of sports-centric programming and activities, we will have already eliminated a major obstacle that often hinders the effectiveness and impact of quality services offered to them. By eliminating this critical factor as a deterrent, PSYM will implement both individual and group exercises designed specifically for addressing the most urgent needs of each youth, their parents, and their entire families. So, first and foremost, we must ensure both youth and parents are well aware of the existing community issues, in addition to educating them on the short and long-term impact that those issues will ultimately have upon the quality of life that stands ahead for them and their child. Equipping them with the problem solving and critical thinking skills that will enable them to rise above the fray.
