Provide a summary of the project or program:
The Biomedical Research and Innovation Park (BRIP) is developing approximately eighteen acres of property adjacent to the ULM
College of Pharmacy and will build an approximately sixty thousand square foot building which will include offices, laboratories, and
research space. The initial building will house research labs for biotech companies and other researchers that want to collaborate
with faculty at ULM and VCOM. The park has space to accommodate additional future buildings. The Biomedical Research and
Innovation Park will manage the facility. Commercialization developed in the research park can have a measurable economic
impact on northeast Louisiana including new investment and job creation, which is BRIP’s primary goal. BRIP received an
Economic Development Administration grant to construct the infrastructure for the park development. The Engineer for that project
has been hired and the plans are almost complete. Construction for the road should be underway in early 2024. Working with
Louisiana Facility Planning and Control, BRIP has hired an architect to design the building. Construction for the building should
commence in 2024. This is a shovel ready project. BRIP is a 501 (C) 3 nonprofit with a board of directors representing various
organizations in the community. BRIP is working closely with the University of Louisiana at Monroe, the ULM College of Pharmacy,
the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine, Louisiana Delta Community College, the cities of Monroe and West Monroe, the
Ouachita Parish Police Jury, Louisiana Economic Development, Louisiana Technology Transfer, North Louisiana Economic
Partnership, Northeast Louisiana Economic Alliance, the Monroe and West Monroe Chambers of Commerce, and private business.
These organizations have joined together to establish the BRIP to work with businesses to develop and commercialize biomedical
technologies and spinoff companies in pharmacology and other disciplines to create jobs, develop new businesses and to
enhance the economy of northeast Louisiana
