Provide a summary of the project or program:
           In collaboration with the Black Family Initiative in Baton Rouge, Bethlehem has provided after-school
and summer intervention since November 1, 2011, to present. The program provides intervention for
at-risk youth at the 4-10 through providing after-school and summer enrichment instruction and
3 activities to enrich the child education. The premise is that students who do well academically are less
likely to be involved in at-risk behavior. The strategy is to aid parents and students in completing
homework and provides remediation to increase student proficiency. Providing 1/12-hours of additional
instruction four (2) days per week will be central to the goal of this after-school program.

What is the entity's public purpose, sought to be achieved through the use of state monies?
          To provide after-school tutoring to St. John Parish students , ages k- 12, with major emphasis on reading and math. Sessions will be 3 days per week and be two –hours in duration. The teacher students ratio will be 1 to 10, which provides for individualize instruction. Minority students are (40) points behind their white counter parts in reading at the third grade level and only 15 percent of minority students 3-8 grade are at achieving Mastery Achievement Level on the state’s LEAP Test.

What are the goals and objectives for achieving such purpose?
          The student’s LEAP Test results will be used to prescribe the intervention. Parents will be requested to play a role in the program by agreeing to take their children to the Parish Library, and to share in reading books. intervention will improve students’ performance on the state’s LEAP Test and have better letter grades.

What is the proposed length of time estimated by the entity to accomplish the purpose?
           The program will start 10/15/23 and will end 6/30/23.
