Provide a summary of the project or program:
The Claiborne Cultural Innovation District (CID) is public-private partnership to
revitalize the Claiborne Corridor and address unmet community needs. Its mission is to serve as a resident-governed effort focused
on providing direct pathways to business ownership, workforce development, and community capacity building, through fulfilling the
need for neighborhood-serving retail and enhanced neighborhood services. The intention of this mission is to provide improved
economic and quality of life outcomes for residents and neighborhood businesses. The intended result of this activity under the
bridge is to catalyze commerce in the broader neighborhood, circulating dollars and leading to opportunities for Black people to
thrive again in what was once the epicenter of small business and commerce for African Americans in the City. As envisioned by
the CID program team, the CID will provide space for an outdoor performance area, along with a curated assortment of small
retailers, food vendors and service providers. Tamborine and Fan, the Phase II portion of the CID, begins at Orleans Avenue and ends at Esplanade Avenue. This zone constitutes the core of the market place for Claiborne Corridor communities.
