Provide a summary of the project or program:
           Come Back to Claiborne
The acquisition and development of a 20,000 square foot lot that is vacant and available across the street from us is a game changer – not just for Ujamaa but also for the Claiborne footprint. It would also crystalize the 5-yr business plan that established the foundation of our work in 2018 and is the cornerstone of development as we embark on the next 5yr strategic plan. We envision residential, commercial, and affordable community space in the heart of Tremé at this intersection of Bayou Road and N. Claiborne Avenue. As a small non-profit, the “Come Back to Claiborne” project will start small, the goal is to create multi-family dwellings that welcome storefronts on the first-floor level. There would be 10 units for the first phase of the project. The potential to purchase the additional lot will allow for 10 more units, but this application is only for the first phase (or lot parcel encompassing 241-45 N.Claiborne).
