Provide a summary of the project or program:
The Miracle League is designed to serve kids who cannot be accommodated by established league sports due to the special needs of their disabilities. The vision of the program is to provide any child with special needs, regardless of their level of disability, the opportunity to play league sports and enjoy the emotional and physical benefits of being part of a team sport. We provide these children with the chance to play through our Miracle Field, a specially constructed sports field that uses a cushioned, synthetic turf to accommodate wheelchairs and other walking-assistance devices that, along with appropriate support facilities, is designed specifically for use by children with disabilities.
We are respectfully requesting an appropriation of $100,000, which will be used specifically to repair and restore the Miracle Field. After years of use and exposure to the elements, the field surface needs repair to continue providing a safe and accessible environment for our players. This funding will directly support our mission to give every child the chance to play ball—regardless of their abilities.

Purpose of State Funding Request – Miracle League Northshore
The Miracle League Northshore is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing children and adults with special needs the opportunity to play baseball in a safe, inclusive, and accessible environment. Our custom-designed field in St. Tammany Parish allows athletes of all abilities to participate in the joy of sports without the barriers that traditional playing surfaces often present.
We are seeking state funding to resurface our specialized playing field, which is now showing significant signs of wear after years of consistent use and exposure to the elements. The current surface, a rubberized, wheelchair-accessible material, is essential to ensuring the safety and mobility of our athletes. Cracking, uneven areas, and fading traction have made it increasingly difficult to maintain the high standards of safety and playability that our participants deserve.
Resurfacing the field will:
• Restore a safe and consistent surface for our athletes.
• Ensure full accessibility for individuals using wheelchairs, walkers, or other mobility aids.
• Prolong the life of this vital community resource.
• Support the continued growth of inclusive recreational programming across the region.
This investment will directly impact hundreds of families in our area and ensure Miracle League Northshore can continue fulfilling its mission: that “every child deserves the chance to play baseball.”
What are the goals and objectives for achieving such purpose?
Goal:
To provide a safe, accessible, and high-quality playing surface for individuals with special needs by resurfacing the Miracle League Northshore field in St. Tammany Parish.
Objectives:
1. Ensure Safety for All Participants
o Remove current hazards such as cracks, uneven surfaces, and worn areas that pose risks to athletes using mobility aids.
o Install a new rubberized, ADA-compliant surface specifically designed for wheelchair and walker use.
2. Restore Full Accessibility and Playability
o Provide a smooth, cushioned field that supports the physical needs of players with disabilities.
o Improve performance conditions to enhance player confidence, comfort, and overall experience.
3. Extend the Lifespan of a Critical Community Asset
o Invest in a durable resurfacing solution to reduce long-term maintenance costs and prolong the use of the field.
o Protect previous capital investments by keeping the field in optimal condition for years to come.
4. Support Inclusive Recreational Growth in the Region
o Maintain a reliable facility for Miracle League seasons and special events.
o Enable increased participation by ensuring the field remains a safe and attractive venue for current and future athletes.
What is the proposed length of time estimated by the entity to accomplish the purpose?
Should be done by summer of 2026
