Provide a summary of the project or program:
The purpose of this grant request is to fund the ASF-Mini bottle crusher. With this equipment, Glass Act Recycling (GA) will double the amount of glass collected, crush and simultaneously repurpose that same glass into beneficial Central LA community product. This is an expansion of GA’s existing program.
The team has witnessed a growing need for a more robust approach to handling the weekly volume of glass coming in from 12 central LA parishes. Considering that the 391,010 people served are responsible for 4.5 pounds used each day, the need to adequately address this environmental issue becomes clear. In just 3 short years, GA collected 517,000 pounds of glass that was diverted from landfills and repurposed in back into LA for pool and sandblast filtration.
There is a continued increase in residential and commercial glass that the program’s current crusher cannot handle. The current crusher operations, maintenance history and production limitations hinder the growth, goals, and plans of GA Recycling. Acquiring a larger crusher, the ASF-Mini bottle crusher is paramount.
This is a new phase for GA and how it serves the Central LA community. GA anticipates expanding the production of glass sand, graded glass sand, and glass cullet into new markets by working with local companies and business/tech leaders.
GA will have greater opportunities to increase its volume of glass by partnering with other collections sites, municipalities, small businesses, restaurants, and bars. This simple solution will have a far-reaching impact by allowing GA to become “Glass Central.”
This will be an ongoing project/program. A successful conclusion to the acquisition of the AFS -Mini bottle crusher will ensure that GA has an ongoing monthly revenue that will help make GA sustainable and an important asset to the Central Louisiana recycling community.

No

What is the entity's public purpose, sought to be achieved through the use of state monies?
Purpose of the request:
Glass Act Recycling (GA) seeks funding to acquire an AFS-Mini bottle crusher, a critical piece of equipment that will enable the organization to significantly expand its current glass recycling operations. This investment directly supports GA’s mission to reduce landfill waste and repurpose post-consumer glass into valuable products for use throughout Central Louisiana.
With the acquisition of the AFS-Mini, GA will be able to double its processing capacity, allowing the organization to meet the growing demand from across 12 Central Louisiana parishes. The population served—approximately 391,010 residents—generates an estimated 4.5 pounds of glass waste per person, per day, highlighting the urgent need for expanded infrastructure to manage and redirect this material from landfills.
Since its founding, GA has successfully diverted over 517,000 pounds of glass from the waste stream in just three years, transforming it into usable materials such as pool filtration media and sandblast aggregate—keeping these products local and circular. However, the limitations of the current crusher in terms of throughput, maintenance demands, and operational inefficiencies have become significant barriers to growth.
The AFS-Mini bottle crusher will not only eliminate these constraints but will also enable GA to expand its reach, scale up operations, and become a sustainable and innovative leader in regional glass recycling. This grant will make it possible for GA to continue its environmental stewardship while creating long-term community and economic benefits for Central Louisiana.
What are the goals and objectives for achieving such purpose?
Goals and Objectives:
This project marks a significant expansion phase for Glass Act Recycling, as it strengthens its role in serving the Central Louisiana region. The primary goal is to scale GA’s operations by increasing the production capacity of glass sand, graded glass sand, and glass cullet, while simultaneously developing new market channels in partnership with local businesses, industry leaders, and technology partners.
Key objectives of this initiative include:
1. Expand Market Reach:
Develop strategic collaborations with local companies and business/technology stakeholders to identify and enter new markets for recycled glass materials.
2. Increase Collection Volume:
Establish partnerships with additional collection sites, municipalities, small businesses, restaurants, and bars to significantly grow the volume of glass collected and processed.
3. Position GA as a Regional Hub:
Transform GA into “Glass Central” for Central Louisiana—serving as the region’s leading resource for glass recycling, innovation, and product development.
4. Secure Long-Term Sustainability:
Acquire and deploy an AFS-Mini bottle crusher to enhance operational efficiency. This investment is projected to generate consistent monthly revenue, contributing to GA’s long-term financial sustainability and community impact.
This initiative is designed as an ongoing program with scalable impact. The successful implementation of these objectives will allow GA to meet increasing regional demand, reduce landfill dependency, and support the development of a circular economy in Central Louisiana.
What is the proposed length of time estimated by the entity to accomplish the purpose?
9 -12 months
