Provide a summary of the project or program:
           The project will enable the New Orleans Museum of Art to realize objectives in all four of the priority areas identified in the
museum’s current 5-year strategic plan: financial stability, collections care, excellence in staffing, and broadening NOMA’s
audiences. This initiative ensures that the museum can build on its more-than-100-year history of serving Louisiana as a key
cultural institution. Support is requested to provide funds to match a federal grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities
to build conservation labs. This will facilitate the care of art and establish a post-baccalaureate fellowship program in partnership
with local HBCU, Xavier University of Louisiana. The labs will make Louisiana a regional leader in the field of conservation as the
only facility in this area. Additionally, NOMA is seeking capital support for building updates that will improve public safety, maximize
the use of space, generate supplemental revenue, and help safeguard the museum against the effects of climate change. These
upgrades are critical to the preservation of the historic building NOMA occupies and will ensure ongoing public access to the
museum and its collections while increasing institutional sustainability. This project involves lighting, safety, and HVAC system
updates, renovating the current board room for increased flexibility and public access, and renovating rooftop spaces and other
underutilized areas for revenue generation.
