The Oil Center Association (OCA) seeks funding to support a multi-faceted revitalization and community engagement initiative in The Oil Center district of Lafayette, Louisiana. The proposed project will focus on beautification & economic development in an effort to enhance the area’s vibrancy and long-term sustainability.
Key components of the project include:
Beautification and Infrastructure Enhancements: Maintain and enhance existing landscaping while adding new lighting and greenery to improve aesthetics, safety, and pedestrian accessibility throughout The Oil Center.
Marketing and Promotion: Develop and implement marketing campaigns that promote The Oil Center as a destination for shopping, dining, and professional services, helping to attract businesses, visitors, and investors.
Community Events and Programming: Organize and support events that drive community engagement and foot traffic to the area, including signature events such as Lunch & Learns, the annual Festival of Lights, and partnerships with local festivals in nearby Girard Park. Support the salary of OCA’s Executive Director and fund consultants or strategic planning efforts to strengthen the organization's ability to manage revitalization projects and collaborate effectively with stakeholders and local agencies.

The Oil Center Association’s public purpose is to promote economic revitalization, cultural preservation, and community engagement within The Oil Center district of Lafayette, Louisiana. Through the use of state funds, the Association seeks to:
Enhance public infrastructure and beautification efforts that improve safety, accessibility, and visual appeal.
Support local businesses by increasing foot traffic and visibility through strategic marketing and events.
Foster community involvement by hosting community event.
Strengthen the capacity of the organization to manage long-term revitalization efforts in coordination with local agencies.
What are the goals and objectives for achieving such purpose?
Goal 1: Enhance the Physical Environment of The Oil Center
Objectives: Maintain and improve existing landscaping to ensure year-round curb appeal and identify key locations for beautification that will have the highest visual and functional impact.
Goal 2: Promote Economic Development and Business Growth
Objectives: Launch targeted marketing campaigns to promote The Oil Center as a hub for shopping, dining, healthcare, and professional services, develop digital and print materials highlighting local businesses, available properties, and investment opportunities, and collaborate with economic development partners to attract and retain businesses.
Goal 3: Strengthen Community Engagement and Public Use of the District
Objectives: Organize a calendar of events—including Lunch & Learns, the Festival of Lights, and partnerships with local cultural festivals—to increase community presence in the area, Engage residents, students, business owners, and stakeholders through participatory programming and volunteer opportunities, and track event attendance and engagement metrics to evaluate success and inform future planning, Support salary of a full-time Executive Director to lead and manage OCA’s strategic initiatives, and hire consultants or conduct strategic planning to guide long-term revitalization efforts.
