Empowering Identity. Cultivating Character. Strengthening Communities. Transforming Futures.
I write with profound respect, sincere gratitude, and an unwavering commitment to the advancement of young people throughout Louisiana to formally request a $75,000 charitable sponsorship in support of Power Up Mentorship.
Power Up is a community-based initiative dedicated to strengthening the personal development, emotional well-being, leadership abilities, educational opportunities, and future potential of underserved populations for girls and young women beginning at age seven and continuing into young adulthood. Power Up Mentorship is dedicated to transforming lives through quantifiable results, innovative, data driven, and continuous improvement, Christ-centered programming that nurtures the mind, body, and spirit.
Our programming incorporates leadership development, long term sustainability, capacity development, emotional intelligence, character education, creative arts, dance and movement, STEM exploration, legal education, and suicidal awareness.
Power Up Mentorship provides structured mentoring sessions throughout the year, generally meeting one to two Saturdays each month for approximately 90 minutes.
Sessions address essential areas of personal development, workforce readiness, rural outreach, recovery and restoration in Louisiana communities, equity and access, identity and purpose, confidence, decision-making, respect, character, emotional regulation, healthy relationships, peer pressure, responsibility, leadership, and future planning.
As a Licensed Professional Counselor, I bring professional knowledge of emotional development, communication, coping strategies, and behavioral challenges to the structure of the program. While mentorship is not a substitute for licensed clinical treatment, our activities intentionally promote supportive relationships, healthy emotional expression, personal accountability, and positive development.
Initiatives include summer dance camps, creative arts activities, leadership workshops, educational enrichment, scholarship opportunities, and community celebrations that recognize participants' accomplishments.
Community-based organizations often face significant challenges securing reliable funding for instructional materials, facilities, transportation-related needs, enrichment activities, volunteer coordination, scholarships, and program operations.
Our mission is substantial, but the resources available to support it remain limited.
For this reason, Power Up Mentorship respectfully requests a charitable contribution of $75,000 to support.
The requested funding would also strengthen our ability to reduce financial barriers and extend meaningful opportunities to young people who might otherwise be excluded from enrichment activities because of economic limitations.
We are committed to responsible financial stewardship, documenting expenditures, maintaining appropriate records, and communicating program activities and measurable indicators of participant engagement and development.
We welcome the opportunity to provide a detailed proposed budget, program calendar, and additional information demonstrating how the requested $75,000 would be allocated. I respectfully ask the state of Louisiana to consider becoming a philanthropic partner in this mission through a $75,000 sponsorship commitment.
Thank you for your time, thoughtful consideration, and dedication to improving the lives of individuals and families throughout our communities.
With profound appreciation and respect,

What is the entity's public purpose, sought to be achieved through the use of state monies?
The public purpose of Power Up Mentorship is to promote educational advancement, emotional wellness, leadership development, character building, and personal growth among children, adolescents, and young adults throughout Northeast Louisiana, particularly those from underserved and economically disadvantaged communities.
Through the requested $75,000 in state funding, Power Up Mentorship seeks to provide structured, year-round mentoring programs, educational workshops, STEM enrichment, creative arts activities, life skills training, college and career readiness, and community service opportunities. Funding will support instructional materials, program operations, educational resources, scholarships, leadership workshops, and activities designed to strengthen participants' confidence, emotional intelligence, academic motivation, and responsible decision-making.
Power Up Mentorship also seeks to establish partnerships with local schools and community organizations to provide free educational and developmental opportunities to young people who might otherwise lack access because of financial limitations.
The ultimate public purpose is to strengthen Louisiana communities by investing in youth development, reducing barriers to educational enrichment, encouraging positive behavior, promoting civic responsibility, and preparing young people to become confident, productive, and responsible citizens. State funds will be directed toward eligible public-benefit activities that advance educational opportunities, personal development, and community well-being.
What are the goals and objectives for achieving such purpose?
The primary goal of Power Up Mentorship is to provide accessible, structured, and sustainable youth development opportunities that promote educational achievement, emotional wellness, leadership, character development, and community engagement among children, adolescents, and young adults throughout Northeast Louisiana, particularly those from underserved and economically disadvantaged populations.
Through the requested $75,000 in state funding, Power Up Mentorship seeks to achieve the following goals and objectives:
Goal 1: Promote Educational Advancement and Academic Readiness. Provide educational enrichment, STEM activities, academic motivation workshops, college and career readiness training, résumé development, scholarship application assistance, and goal-setting opportunities. Participants will develop practical skills that support educational achievement and preparation for future academic and professional opportunities.
Goal 2: Strengthen Emotional Wellness and Personal Development.
Implement age-appropriate workshops addressing self-esteem, emotional intelligence, healthy communication, conflict resolution, coping strategies, responsible decision-making, and positive self-image. These activities will help participants develop confidence, resilience, self-awareness, and healthier interpersonal relationships.
Goal 3: Develop Leadership, Character, and Life Skills. Conduct structured mentoring sessions focused on accountability, integrity, discipline, respect, teamwork, financial awareness, healthy boundaries, and personal responsibility. Participants will be encouraged to demonstrate leadership through practical exercises, mentorship activities, and community involvement.
Goal 4: Expand Access to Creative and Enrichment Opportunities. Provide dance, movement, creative arts, motivational workshops, and other developmental activities that promote confidence, discipline, teamwork, creativity, and positive self-expression. Priority will be given to removing financial barriers that prevent underserved youth from participating.
Goal 5: Strengthen Community Partnerships and Volunteerism. Collaborate with local schools, community organizations, senior citizen programs, and charitable agencies to coordinate service-learning experiences and outreach opportunities. Participants will develop compassion, civic awareness, and an understanding of their responsibility to contribute positively to their communities.
Goal 6: Increase Accessibility and Program Sustainability. Utilize funding to support instructional materials, qualified facilitators, program supplies, facility expenses, educational resources, scholarships, and operational needs. Power Up Mentorship will seek to provide free or reduced-cost programming and expand its reach to young people who otherwise lack access to structured developmental opportunities.
Goal 7: Measure Program Effectiveness and Participant Growth. Monitor participation, attendance, workshop completion, educational engagement, leadership involvement, and participant feedback. Pre-program and post-program assessments, surveys, and documented activities will be used where appropriate to evaluate progress, identify areas for improvement, and demonstrate responsible stewardship of public funds.
The overall objective is to establish a consistent, measurable, and community-centered mentorship initiative that equips young people with the knowledge, confidence, discipline, educational resources, and leadership skills necessary to make positive life decisions. Through prevention-focused programming, educational enrichment, and community collaboration, Power Up Mentorship seeks to strengthen families, expand opportunities, and contribute to the long-term social and economic development of Louisiana.
