           The NELCM is a premier STEM educational center in Northeast Louisiana where children are introduced to hands-on interactive learning through play. Since 1988, the museum has been housed in a converted warehouse with the current facility having exceeded its useful life that includes the building having extensive structural and code compliances issues. The NELCM has acquired a new facility that will be located in the heart of Monroe. The new facility will includes numerous interactive learning experiences that are designed to meet the educational and social-emotional needs of children who reside in this mostly rural area of the state. This request is seeking consideration of retaining the current $7,500,000 Priority 5 non-cash line of credit in the same status throughout the next fiscal year with the funds being needed in future fiscal years for the expansion of exhibits that will further enhance the educational learning experiences for youth in Northeast Louisiana.
