§158.2. Childhood Cancer Awareness Month
A. The legislature does hereby recognize and acknowledge that:
(1) Childhood cancer remains the number one cause of death by disease for children
in the United States of America.
(2) It is the policy of this state to acknowledge the challenges faced by children with
cancer and their families, to support their continued efforts in their courageous fight against
the disease, and to assist them in spreading awareness of the impact of childhood cancer
while seeking to find a cure.
(3) The month of September has been recognized by childhood cancer organizations
around the world as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and the color gold has been
designated as the official color signifying awareness of childhood cancer in honor and in
memory of children with cancer.
B. The legislature hereby designates the month of September each year as
"Childhood Cancer Awareness Month" in Louisiana and that the official color signifying that
awareness is gold.
