§407.72. Orientation
A. Each family child care provider and in-home provider who receives payments
from the department shall be required to participate in a four-hour orientation. The
orientation curriculum shall include but not be limited to the following subjects:
recordkeeping; immunization schedules and requirements; recognizing signs of child abuse;
child abuse prevention; communicating with parents; age appropriate activities for young
children; child development; child safety; and nutritional needs of children. The orientation
shall count toward the required hours of professional development training mandated by the
State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education.
B. New family child care home providers and in-home providers are required to
provide proof of orientation participation within six months of initial registration. Newly
registered providers, at the time of initial application, are required to sign an agreement
committing to attend the required orientation within six months.
