§1587. Procurement advisory council; other advisory groups
A. Procurement advisory council. The commissioner may establish a Procurement
Advisory Council. If created, such council, upon adequate public notice, shall meet at least
once a year for the discussion of problems and recommendations for improvement in the
procurement process. When requested by the commissioner, the procurement advisory
council may conduct studies, research, and analyses and make such reports and
recommendations with respect to such subjects or matters within the jurisdiction of the
commissioner. The procurement advisory council shall consist of such qualified persons as
the commissioner may deem desirable.
B. Other advisory groups. The state chief procurement officer may appoint advisory
groups to assist with respect to specifications and procurement in specific areas and with
respect to any other matters within the authority of the state chief procurement officer.
C. Drug procurement advisory council. The commissioner shall establish a Drug
Procurement Advisory Council which shall be composed of persons from the division of
administration and from using agencies of drugs procured by the division and persons
qualified in the fields of medicine and pharmacy. The council shall advise the commissioner
with respect to the procurement of drugs for any using agency by generic contract, as further
provided in R.S. 39:1601.
