Provide a summary of the project or program:
Capital Outlay- A lot of repairs and refurbishing of the main office building was done two years ago. Funding would not allow us to redo the parking lot. We had enough money at the time to do half paving and half gravel but found out the city had an ordinance against putting gravel in a parking lot. This parking lot has holes and it is getting dangerous for our seniors to walk in the lot to get to the office. The sidewalk was repaired by the city but the dumpster tore up sidewalk again so we had the dumpster removed 2 weeks ago. We are ready to complete our renovation goals

We have had an environmental control study done on the office and we do have the existence of some dust and mold and extensive cleaning has helped but our carpet is 14 years old and needs to be replaced.

General Appropriation- Every one of our programs for our seniors requires local funds to balance the budget. The program that requires the most local funds is our Home Delivered Meals program. It would relieve some of our drain on our budget if more funding was allowed for our programs.

What is the budget relative to the project for which funding is requested?:
          Salaries. . . . . . . . . . . . . $0
          Professional Services. . . $0
          Contracts . . . . . . . . . . . $0
          Acquisitions . . . . . . . . . $0
          Major Repairs . . . . . . . $65,000
          Operating Services. . . . $35,000
          Other Charges. . . . . . . $0

Does your organization have any outstanding audit issues or findings?  Yes

If 'Yes' is your organization working with the appropriate governmental agencies to resolve those issues or findings?
          Yes

What is the entity's public purpose, sought to be achieved through the use of state monies?
Iberia Council on Aging exists to identify the needs of older person and to provide the delivery of services to said individuals. The Capital Outlay appropriation will provide a safer entrance for our seniors who are often using walkers or wheelchairs and the new carpet will provide a clean working environment for both the employees and clients.
Putting money into our Home-Delivered Program that requires the most local money would free up local money to be used for other purposes. We could then expand our other programs more.

What are the goals and objectives for achieving such purpose?
Capital Outlay- Our facility is attractive but our entrance to our building due to the deteriorating parking lot is unattractive and unsafe. The objective is to help achieve a safe environment when the elderly and staff come into the building. The aging carpet is also a health risk for everyone and new carpet would finish our renovations at this time along with the completion on the outside.

Our Homebound Meals program is a very expensive program to run with the mileage and cost of meals. Relieving our local budget from some of the strain of the costs of this program would allow our local money to be used in other programs.

What is the proposed length of time estimated by the entity to accomplish the purpose?
For capital outlay, the proposed length of time would be 4 months once the contract is signed. The General Appropriations would last the entire fiscal year.
