MHAL is committed to promoting mental health as a critical part of overall wellness, including prevention services for all, early identification and intervention for those at risk, and integrated care and treatment for those who need it. Focusing on our At Risk Youth. Many youth are not having the benefit of a mental health assessment completed before adjudication with the court system. And with out the benefit of treatment, many are subjected to what we call "juvenile life." They are sentenced to juvenile jail until 17-18, then they are transferred to prisons that house adult men.

What are the goals and objectives for achieving such purpose?
GOALS: TO DECREASE THE NUMBER OF JUVENILES ADJUDICATED, INCREASE THE NUMBER OF JUVENILE OFFENDERS RECEIVING ASSESSMENT (BEHAVIORAL HEALTH AND LITERACY) AND REFERRAL FOR TREATMENT, BUILDING CONFIDENCE AND SELF-ESTEEM OF THE JUVENILES, AND INCREASING THEIR SHORT-TERM GOALS.

OBJECTIVES: DECREASE THE STIGMA OF MENTAL HEALTH ILLNESSES BY HAVING THESE JUVENILES ASSESSED AND RECEIVING PROPER TREATMENT. EDUCATING JUVENILES ON HOW TO BE SUCCESSFUL AND PRODUCTIVE USING AVAILABLE RESOURCES. DUE TO THE NEGATIVITY AND CRITICISM OF OTHERS, SOME JUVENILES DO NOT BELIEVE THEY WILL AMOUNT TO OR ACCOMPLISH ANYTHING. THE EVIDENCE BASED PROGRAM WILL PROVE THAT WITH THE RIGHT TOOLS AND RESOURCES THESE JUVENILES CAN DO WHATEVER THEY PUT THEIR MINDS TO AND CAN ALSO BE SUCCESSFUL.

What is the proposed length of time estimated by the entity to accomplish the purpose?
           10 months
