           New Hope Baptist Church is a 1,500 membership church in North Baton Rouge. As a faith-based non-profit organization. Our desire is to build a Family Life Center to operate a vast number of programs to assist the church and the community. The facility will include a gymnasium, classrooms, child care center and more.

          New Hope Family Life Center will be a part of the Ardendale/Smiley Heights Community serving as a backbone offering a food bank, health, parenting, tutoring, wellness and fitness, education, and recreation seminars for residents in the neighborhood.

In addition, New Hope will offer support for youth development and building a strong community.

There are several key issues facing the Ardendale/Smiley Heights Community and we would like to partner with the City of Baton Rouge to assist in helping connect families and community:
• Neighborhood poverty
• High rates of single parent households
• Violent crime

In addition, according to Neighborhood Scout, 69.2% of children living in the Ardendale/Smiley Heights neighborhood live in poverty; and this is consider to be a high percentage compared to other neighborhoods in the nation. Also, it is noted that approximately one in four children grow up in poverty in Smiley Heights.

Neighborhood Scout research also showed a strong correlation among high rates of children living in single parent households, poverty and neighborhood crime particularly violent crime.

          Provide a community asset to help improve the quality of life for residents of Ardendale/Smiley Heights and the congregation of New Hope through community events, tutoring, seminars and positive recreational and opportunities for youth.
