Provide a summary of the project or program:
This project will expand the residential capacity of Eden House, a non-profit organization that provides
comprehensive recovery and reentry services to victims of human trafficking and commercial sexual
exploitation, through the acquisition of a second residence in New Orleans. In this residence, Eden House
will house 8-10 adult women who are recovering from the trauma of human trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation. Eden House provides these services to victims through a long-germ residential program based in intensive and therapeutic case management and the living in community model, free of charge to clients.
Eden House is the first and only recovery home of its kind in the greater New Orleans area. The house will
be a suitable living environment for residents who require long-term services for the development and
implementation of comprehensive recovery plans that will allow them to turn their lives around and to reenter society healed. The house will follow the evidence-based Eden House model of intensive and therapeutic case management which includes daily one-on-one guidance and counseling, group therapies, trauma therapy, access to legal, educational, medical, and psychological services, as well as job training through our social enterprise Especially Eden and outreach through our prevention education program R.E.A.L. Choices. In addition to the individual bedrooms that will be shared by two residents each, communal spaces will be used and/or created to accommodate individual case management, communal educational presentations, and group meetings. To accommodate 8-10 residents we need 4-5 bedrooms, at least 3 bathrooms, as well as a living room, a spacious kitchen with a dining area, and a study area/meeting room. The house will be located with close access to public transportation so that residents can easily go to work and other
appointments.

What is the entity's public purpose, sought to be achieved through the use of state monies?
Eden House is a movement to eradicate the trafficking and selling of human beings. We create systemic change through: youth prevention; education and legislative advocacy, and recovery and reentry services for victims, including long-term shelter. State monies will be used to acquire a residence in which our clients can be housed and where our recovery program can be implemented. This funding request is for the acquisition of one additional home in Orleans parish. Eden House has been in operation since 2011 and the demand for our services has grown steadily. In 2017 alone, we had more than 90 requests for services and our 2018 numbers were similar. The need for recovery services is increasing as state and federal laws are changing to treat women and children as victims of trafficking rather than criminals in need of incarceration.

What are the goals and objectives for achieving such purpose?
The rehabilitation and recovery of adult women who are victims of human trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation. Eden House is eager to support the State of Louisiana's commitment by providing adult female victims with all the services they need to recover from the trauma
experienced through trafficking. These services will be provided free of charge to them and/or state and local authorities. This capital outlay request is part of a larger campaign to help us secure the funds needed to provide our services. These services are comprehensive and include: room and board, medical, psychological, and dental care, as well as legal assistance, educational and
vocational training. This is an emergency request, as there is such great demand for our services that women are desperate for our assistance. If female victims are not finding placements to recover from the trauma of human trafficking, they are highly likely to return to the streets and their traffickers.

What is the proposed length of time estimated by the entity to accomplish the purpose?
           1 year
