           The funds are to be used for equipment, facility improvements, and a new warehouse that will create new job opportunities for people who are blind. Lighthouse has a 100-year history of employing citizens with severe vision impairment in jobs that pay competitive wages, offer full benefits, and include retirement.           The funds are to be used for equipment, facility improvements, and a new warehouse that will create new job opportunities for people who are blind. As the federal Disability Insurance Trust Fund is imperiled, blind Louisianans are facing a dim future unless quality employment options are available. Lighthouse has a 100-year history of employing citizens with severe vision impairment in jobs that pay competitive wages, offer full benefits, and include retirement. This project will help expand Lighthouse’s government contract manufacturing venture with commensurate expansion of employment.

What are the goals and objectives for achieving such purpose?
          To sustain current employment for people with disabilities and to grow new jobs for people who are blind, we are working diligently to diversify our customer base. The goal of this project is economic development. By purchasing a new machine, creating a new warehouse to stock that machine, and renovating existing space to house the machine, we will be increasing our capacity and creating new jobs for people who are blind.
