           This project is for the construction of a gymnasium at the Belle Chasse YMCA in Plaquemine Parish. A 500k grant from Phillips 66 will help fund this project for Belle Chasse. The Phase III gymnasium will complete the facility and include a regular size basketball court, two volley ball courts to provide indoor recreation for the youth and adults of Plaquemines Parish. This facility will support the government of Plaquemines Parish by serving as a disaster response location for the Parish.

          The YMCA of Belle Chasse has completed Phase I and II of the project for Plaquemine Parish. Phase III will complete the YMCA adding a gymnasium for the community which only has a high school gym. This is a much needed addition. Phillips 66 has donated 500k for the project as a local match. 700k is requested from Capital Outlay funds for 2020.

          The gym will meet the needs of the community in several ways including but not limited to: youth and teen recreation, development of adult recreation, community collaboration center, recovery shelter, and senior socialization and wellness events.
