Provide a summary of the project or program:
           In the year 2000, the Hungarian Settlement Historical Society was formed with the mission of renovating an old school building into the Hungarian Settlement Historical Museum. The organization secured a 50-year lease on the land and the building from the Livingston Parish School Board. The building was in a state of disrepair. Since then, the foundation, roof and most of the building have been renovated. The renovation was financed through LGAP Grants, Louisiana Capital Outlay Grants, Tourist Commission Grants, and Hungarian Settlement Historical Society fund raisers. The building has been renovated and now the old 100 year old windows need replacing with energy-efficient windows.

          The Hungarian Settlement Historical Museum seeks to display historical artifacts from the area dating back to 1896 to the present.

          To preserve the old school building on the National Register of Historic Places and operate the Hungarian Settlement Historical Museum that exhibits and displays Hungarian artifacts and culture of the area.

           Although the museum is currently opened to the public, it is an ongoing project and is constantly being upgraded and improved.
