device lending, acquisition of previously owned AT, information and assistance for finding and funding AT, device benefit awareness, AT technology training and technical assistance, statewide collaboration and coordination, and emergency response following disasters. The project will provide access to low-, mid- and high-tech devices that enable people of all ages and types of disabilities and limitations to remain active at work, in school and in
community activities, including living in their own homes.

What is the entity's public purpose, sought to be achieved through the use of state monies?
LATAN helps people with disabilities and functional limitations statewide to gain access to assistive technology to
use at work, home and at school. In addition, LATAN also assists with emergency response to people with disabilities following national disasters through its equipment reuse program and functional needs assessments in shelters. Coordination of these efforts in collaboration with many state and community organizations such as the GOSEF the American Red Cross.
Support from State Appropriations is necessary as LATAN helps state agencies, individuals and businesses to access necessary devices for daily use for their family members, employees and students in school systems.
Further, the funding supports LATAN's AT demonstration centers, to continue its statewide services and programs, that enhance a person's quality of life and enable them to be successful and as independent as possible. As a statewide AT provider, LATAN continues to need funding to support outreach to rural parishes who are underserved and continue to have limited or no access to AT services, devices, and equipment.

LATAN collaborates with many state agencies including but not limited to Office of Citizens with Developmental Disabilities, Governor’s Office of Disability, the State Independent Living Council, Louisiana Rehabilitation Services, Office Aging and Adult Services and many other agencies serving people with disabilities who need LATAN programs and services. This requested funding enables the State to meet the demands of the Louisiana residents who need access to assistive technology, and will allow LATAN to have devices available for demonstration and loan to aid them in determining the device(s) that would work for them prior to purchase. These services save the state thousands of dollars when a state agency such as Louisiana Rehabilitation Services sends clients to LATAN to try devices before the state agency purchases them.

What are the goals and objectives for achieving such purpose?
Goal 1: Individuals with disabilities, people with functional limitations, family members, and service providers will be able to access assistive technology devices to try out before purchase, or while their own is being repaired, or for
other reasons identified by the individual.

Objective 1: To provide people with disabilities, people with functional limitations, family members, and service providers information necessary to make informed decisions about various device capabilities to meet their
personal needs or the needs of individuals who are being assisted by family members or service providers.

Goal 2: Individuals with disabilities and people with functional limitations will have more options for the acquisition of assistive technology devices and services for use at home, at work and in other community settings.

Objective 2: To provide people with disabilities and people with functional limitations opportunities to acquire assistive devices and services for long-term lease and/or lease to purchase. To provide people with disabilities, with terminal illnesses, such as ALS, with access to devices leases for short-term use.

Goal 3: Establish LATANs AT Work Virtual Employment Center (technical assistance and training) with tailored
educational resources that target consumers and family members, providers, and employers/businesses by offering virtual device demonstrations, training, and technical assistance, workforce resources, and recommendations for workplace accommodations that increase employment outcomes.

Objective 3: To create a continuous venue for training and technical assistance needed by consumers and family members, OAAS providers, community agencies serving people with disabilities and functional limitations, as well as businesses and potential employers to promote better employment outcomes, as well as support transition from traditional employment settings to more inclusive business models.

What is the proposed length of time estimated by the entity to accomplish the purpose?
Ongoing with measurable progress that changes as the AT needs of Louisiana residents evolves.
