What is the entity's public purpose, sought to be achieved through the use of state monies?
          REAL, formerly LRLC, is comprised of eight Regional Economic Development Organizations around the state, who collective represent 64 parishes, with a common mission to promote economic development at the local/regional level to attract business, expand business, grow jobs, and provide workforce opportunities.
Effectively, these entities are the “boots on the ground” to supplement LED efforts!

REAL works closely with Louisiana Economic Development to deliver a comprehensive list of sites and buildings, to certify sites according to LED's certification process, to hold local meetings to engage community leaders in LED initiatives, to develop workforce programs and elicit community involvement throughout the Parishes each organization represents. Of the six objectives listed, each organization works on the greater need of each Parish and the region as a whole.

          Objective 1:
Regional Business Development
REAL will emphasize the provision of in-depth, high-quality business development services. Examples of Regional Business Development activities include any of the following:
Marketing and attraction, business development, business retention and expansion.
Objective 2:
Product Development
REAL will emphasize the provision of in-depth, high-quality product development services. Examples of Regional Product Development activities include any of the following:
Site identification, selection, preparation and deal closing incentives.

Objective 3:
Workforce Development
REAL will emphasize the provision of in-depth, high-quality workforce development services. Examples of Workforce Development activities include any of the following:
Career promotion, higher education and Louisiana Community and Technical College System (LCTCS), industry based training, Jump Start (a workforce program), Workforce and Innovation for a Stronger Economy (WISE), curriculum development and labor studies.

Objective 4:
Policy Development and Implementation, REAL will emphasize the provision of policy development and implementation services.
Examples of Policy Development and Implementation activities include any of the following:
Research and commercialization, and related activities.

Objective 5:
Small Business and Community Development Assistance
REAL will emphasize the provision of in-depth, high-quality support for small business and community development. Examples of Small Business and Community Development Assistance include any of the following:
Small business outreach, entrepreneurial support, capital access, import-export assistance, disaster preparedness-business continuity, support for second-stage, high-growth entrepreneurs, and support for entrepreneurial growth companies that accelerate job creation through Economic Gardening strategic research, high level business consulting and CEO Roundtables.

Local and Regional Specific Initiatives
REAL will support local and regional specific initiatives as deemed integral to meeting local demands.

The goal of each of the eight Regions is to focus on the objectives fitting each area of each region, maximizing the effort to achieve job growth, workforce improvements and satisfaction, with successful collaboration with LOUISIANA ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT, local organizations and leaders for mutual success.

The eight regions of REAL work in with Louisiana Economic Development in partnership to carry out the mission, vision and specific projects to efficiently deliver economic development in initiatives of LED combined wth local needs in every economic development category: Marketing, the Objectives, Community, Work Force, Site selection and certification, Response to Proposals, support for special LED events and the mission of the state of Louisiana. The organization works closely with Louisiana Economic Development for delivery of state economic objectives

The Contract would be with REAL and Louisiana Economic Development would act as the fiscal agent .
Economic development and workforce services will be provided to all 64 Parishes covered by the eight regions taking into consideration the diversity and regional unique needs of each region. Some of the activities we support are marketing and attraction, business development, retention, site prep and selection, community development, incentives, research. Career development of the workforce and engaging the cooperation and support of existing businesses. We promote the initiatives of Louisiana Economic Development.
