Provide a summary of the project or program:
           The purpose of this project is to restore the Robert A. Bogan Baton Rouge Fire Museum listed on the National Register of Historic Places # 395954 to preserve early firefighting history in Baton Rouge. In compliance with our 5-year strategic plan, this facility will serve as a community resource that will provide education programs concerning fire safety and fire prevention for local youth in the Greater Baton Rouge area. The renovated facility will also have meeting space for local fire and law enforcement associations as well as serving as a meeting venue for various community events. A full cost estimate was prepared by Domain Design Company which specializes in renovation of historic properties. Due to the age of the building, this renovation will allow the facility to meet modern building codes. In addition, the renovation of restrooms, entry ways, etc. will be ADA compliant. Once complete, the facility will have a large exhibit space, seven offices, restored fire tower, kitchen, and community meeting space.

          The Robert A Bogan Fire Museum is a nonprofit, tax exempt, educational museum whose purpose is to preserve and exhibit the artifacts and history of Baton Rouge and surrounding area fire departments, as well as teach and promote fire safety and prevention.

What are the goals and objectives for achieving such purpose?
          Project Goal: Full building restoration to that will align with the City of Baton Rouge and State of Louisiana tourism long-term plans.
Project Objectives
• Offer a place for active duty and veteran firefighters and fire department staff to meet both formally and informally
• Offer quarterly rotating exhibits
• Open the museum five days per week for guests of all ages from the community (Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, MDA children, Boys and Girls Club, etc.) area schools, home school co-ops, and tourists
• Collect and exhibit oral histories (video or audio with written transcripts) regarding firefighting in the City of Baton Rouge
• Development of scripts and informational brochures, including a specific script/tour plan for autistic children
• Partner with the active Robert A. Bogan Fire Station on Government Street to combine group field trips and tours to highlight old and new, history and safety.
