           The purpose of request for funding for Assumption ARC is to continue to improve the services we provide to the individuals with intellectual disabilities through maintaining their health and safety, promoting health and well-being with exercise equipment/videos, creating and maintaining interactive day habilitation program, seek and establish community integration, find and secure gainful community employment, continue and add to staff training, maintain optimum residential living and therefore improving the lives of the individuals we serve.

What is the entity's public purpose, sought to be achieved through the use of state monies?
          The purpose sought to achieve through the use of the state monies to improve the services we provide for our program participants as described below.

Assumption ARC (AARC) was established in 1964 to improve the lives of persons with disabilities living in Assumption Parish. Over the years, our purpose has never changed.

Our mission is to develop and implement programs and projects that will effectively meet the changing needs of the people we serve. The goal of our agency is to help each person reach their maximum level of independence and to have as normal of a life as possible.

Assumption ARC proudly offers citizens with disabilities a wide variety of residential and vocational services.

Residential Services
The purpose of residential services is to help persons to achieve their maximum level of independence.
Group Home Services:
• Thibaut Manor Group Home
• Napoleonville Manor Group Home
Residential 24-hour care for adults with developmental disabilities.
NOW Waiver Services:
• Waiver Supported Independent Living - provides support and training to increase the independence of persons with disabilities living in their own apartment or home.
• Waiver In-Home Attendant Care/Individual & Family Support - in-home hands on assistance and training for persons with disabilities and provides services in-home in the absent of the care giver.

Vocational Services
Vocational services are designed to provide a number of vocational opportunities and experiences to help persons with disabilities through integration with community, gainful employment and/or daily living skills. AARC’s vocational adult day program, the Assumption Activity Center offers the following services:
• Supported Employment - a vocational service in which a direct service professional (DSP) goes out in the community and finds a job, then helps to train the person on-the-job and provide ongoing, continuous support to ensure the person is able to do the job.
• Mobile Work Crews - a DSW and 4 to 6 persons with disabilities provide various job services such as housekeeping, recycling and clothes collection.
• Pre-Vocational - offers persons with disabilities vocational training and simulated work experiences in recycling/clothes processing and beads.
• Day Habilitation – designed to help improve persons with disabilities with simple daily living skills as well as social activities.


What are the goals and objectives for achieving such purpose?
          Goal setting and objectives for achieving the purpose of our organization are essential aspects of our professional growth and fulfilling the needs of the individuals we serve.

The goal of our agency is to help each person reach their maximum level of independence and to have as normal of a life as possible, knowing that every small improvement makes them just as capable as able-bodied and able-minded individuals. We are striving to enable them to see a path towards an achievement that might otherwise seem impossible due to their disabilities and reach for the best they can making the most of life and succeed despite the additional challenges they face.
