           The YWCA of Greater New Orleans is a tax-exempt 501 (c) 3 nonprofit social services organization that has been making a positive difference in people's lives in the greater New Orleans area. This long-standing institution has been is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all for over 100 years.

The mission of the Board of Directors is to rebuild the physical structure of the agency and re-establish programs benefitting women, children and the elderly in the Greater New Orleans area.  
Currently, there are service gaps in the New Orleans community.  Similar facilities, although operational and providing services, simply do not have the capacity or wherewithal to meet all of the existing needs in the city.

This project will supplement funding greatly needed to reestablish the transformational programs for women, youth, and their families, including afterschool programming, summer programming, daycare, Parenting Classes, Youth Enrichment, Domestic Violence Counseling, Rape Crisis Programs, and Senior services. This project will underwrite the costs of programs and staffing and support services in the YWCA's first year of its reinstated operations.

          YWCA Greater New Orleans is uniquely positioned to create and manage funding for the construction of a new facility designed to provide an early learning and day care center, community education classrooms, dedicated space for counseling and programming, and executive offices for YWCA staff. Currently, there are service gaps in the New Orleans community. Similar facilities, although operational and providing services, simply do not have the capacity or wherewithal to meet all of the existing needs in the city. The need for a YWCA yet remains.

In addition to programming, the YWCA will provide:
Job creation, particularly for low-to-moderate income individuals. Economic Development helping vulnerable parts of the Greater New Orleans area while providing continuity of services to families. It will additionally restore/ strengthen the neighborhood/ community; part of the Tulane/Jefferson Davis corridor revitalization, as well as support the overall livelihood and economic development goals of the region.

          Mission of the Board of Directors is to rebuild the physical structure of the agency and re-establish the hallmark programs benefitting women, children, and the elderly in the Greater New Orleans area, and the goals are to help women and families through needs based programs and services.

           It is a perpetual goal and accomplishing the purpose is ongoing.
