Provide a summary of the project or program:
The projects below center around CCA's disaster response programs. The projects applied for in eCORTS relate to fortifying our programs and expanding them to meet the existing and growing needs in the Acadiana region. Disaster events (hurricanes, floods, tornados, freezes) are becoming more frequent and stronger in our region and the capital improvements made through these requests will ensure that CCA can continue to be a leader in disaster preparedness, response and recovery.

Project 1. CCA will purchase and install a generator to ensure the use of the facility during times of and immediately following a disaster event which is used as emergency housing with a full commercial kitchen.

Project 2. CCA will expand St. Joseph Diner into a mass production kitchen for disaster response and community meals, and build a permanent location for FoodNet Food Bank, including dry, cold, and frozen storage space for food items. FoodNet is currently housed within CCA's disaster warehouse. This is not adequate for the size and scale of the current program, nor the growing needs of the region. CCA owns land adjacent to its existing St. Joseph Diner where construction can occur. Office space for staff is included in this plan.

Project 3. CCA will purchase and install a generator to ensure the use of the facility during times of and immediately following a disaster event which is used as a disaster response warehouse and training facility. CCA's goal is to respond to disasters locally, regionally, and along the gulf-coast and to have the capacity to secure large-scale donations of rebuilding materials.

What is the entity's public purpose, sought to be achieved through the use of state monies?
Catholic Charities of Acadiana cares for the sacred gift of all human life, especially the most vulnerable. CCA serves the eight civil parishes which make up the Acadiana region: Acadia, Iberia, Evangeline, Lafayette, St. Landry, St. Martin, St. Mary, and Vermilion. CCA trains staff and volunteers for deployments involving lily pads, debris removal, muck and guts, tarping, disaster food service and long-term recovery. CCA operates in all phases of disaster, beginning in preparation through immediate response, long-term recovery and mitigation. Through the first project, CCA seeks provide housing and food for individuals and families experiencing homelessness, those displaced after a disaster, and/or volunteers in need of housing in their response to a disaster event. Through the second project, CCA seeks to expand its food production and storage capability to respond to current needs and to scale during a disaster event. Through its third project, CCA seeks to fortify its disaster and rebuilding warehouse to maintain the use of the facility during power outages that often occur after a disaster.

What are the goals and objectives for achieving such purpose?
Catholic Charities of Acadiana sets a strategic plan annually and reviews three-year, one year, and 90-day targets each week. To meet the above purposes, CCA is actively pursuing the capital funding needed to secure and expand its existing programs relating to disaster response. This Capital Outlay request provides the necessary infrastructure in our programs to reach the goals. Once the capital improvements have been made, CCA can continue to secure large-scale donations of food and rebuilding materials, as well as large equipment for immediate disaster response and long-term recovery. CCA is currently working towards its 5-year plan to become a robust regional service provider throughout the Acadiana region's civil parishes, which include: Acadia, Evangeline, Iberia, Lafayette, St. Landry, St. Martin, St. Mary, St., and Vermilion. Though CCA is currently operational, this funding request represents a critical need in moving these projects forward to meet the needs of today and tomorrow.

What is the proposed length of time estimated by the entity to accomplish the purpose?
           12 - 24 months
