Provide a summary of the project or program:
The Family Justice Center of Central Louisiana (FJC) is an innovative organization working together to provide services to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault all under one roof. The FJC's purpose is to provide one safe location for victims to: speak with an advocate, develop a safety plan, interview with a detective, meet with a prosecutor, receive civil legal services, and enroll in trauma counseling. Our mission is to stop family violence, make victims safe, hold batterers accountable, and provide long-term support for victims and children through advocacy and support.
Our proposed project/program aims to:
Provide Civil/Legal, Counseling, and Advocacy services to survivors of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault. This will be accomplished by obtaining three attorneys, two legal advocates, two counselors, two Parish Managers, and two additional office locations, providing easier access to underserved populations.
Provide Emergency Shelter/Housing Assistance, Financial Assistance, and Victims Supplies to survivors of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault. This will be accomplished by assisting with court filing fees regarding divorce and custody, victim supplies, travel needs, food and hygiene needs, and emergency shelter for victims.
Provide Resources, Training and Access to Law Enforcement providers through a 24 hour On Call program within all nine parishes. This will be accomplished by conducting trainings and dispersing Domestic Violence Material. We will also provide services to survivors of domestic violence, partnering organizations, schools through NextStep Teen Dating Violence Program, and legal service providers within the project.
