Every year over 400 deaths in the United States are estimated to occur as a result of accidental, non-fire related exposure to the toxic gas - carbon monoxide (CO). In the year 2021, carbon monoxide poisoning killed almost 100 Louisiana residents and hundreds were hospitalized. (source:www.theadvocate.com). Carbon monoxide (CO) is a tasteless, odorless and colorless gas. Breathing high levels causes CO poisoning, which can cause severe illness or even death in just minutes.

Green the Church Louisiana is working to offer a semi-annual community resource event, which will help develop (CO) awareness, in accordance with the Louisiana Department of Health. Over the course of these two (2) events, we desire the ability to give away a total of 400 (CO) detectors.

There will be presenters who will share education with our guest on carbon monoxide precautions, fire safety, how to use generators properly, and energy efficiency programs. We will offer to the public friendly entertainment, door prizes, and light refreshments will be served.
