Provide a summary of the project or program:
Central Community Theatre has served more than 1,000 kids in our community since our inception in
2007. We are the only children’s theatre in the city and are a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization.

In 2016, our rehearsal space on Sullivan Road flooded and was irreparably damaged. In the years since,
we have utilized various churches and gyms in the area to practice for the two shows we perform each
year and host summer camps. We heard from parents and the need for a steady rehearsal space and
new home became clear.

After reviewing many options, Gil Matherne provided us an affordable space customized for our needs
near the intersection of Lovett & Joor Road. This 10-year lease will be our home for the next decade and
reaffirms our commitment to the City of Central. We announced the new space in November and when
we began accepting registrations for our Summer 2023 show, they skyrocketed. More than 100 students
signed up, an 80% increase from the previous show.

Now, we are seeking funding to outfit our new rehearsal space with necessary equipment including:

• A new audio/visual system including microphones, speakers, lighting, and televisions
This equipment will be mobile so CCT can use it for community performances and other
charitable events when we are asked to perform.

• Rehearsal mirrors
These 6R tall mirrors will line our rehearsal wall so students can see themselves as they practice

• An industrial lift to second floor
To reduce cost, we converted the attic space to storage and have it outfitted to be accessed by
an industrial lift for costumes and props

• A front door lock with 4-digit code
For increased security, we want to keep our front door locked at all times, yet easily accessible
with a 4-digit code

• A refrigerator & chairs for students to use during rehearsal

The total cost for this new equipment is $50,000. We are asking for you to consider appropriating this
crucial funding for the arts in the Central community. We strive to keep our pricing affordable and do not have the ability to fund this project on our own.
