Provide a summary of the project or program:
Bayou Greenbelt is a proposed 23-mile water loop around Lake Charles. The intent is to give public access and recreational amenities to enhance hidden natural features near the city. This includes trails on public land adjacent to waterways for walking, running, biking, and paddling. The initial phases of Bayou Greenbelt are completed with the northern point at Riverside Park in North Lake Charles and the southern point at McNeese State University. Kayak launches are being installed at both locations to provide public space equitable access to the waterways. Kayak kiosks will enhance the experience by offering residents the ability to rent kayaks and the necessary equipment to safely paddle around Lake Charles. The funding would allow the Community Foundation Southwest Louisiana to purchase kayak locker systems for both locations. These locker systems include kayaks, paddles and the proper safety equipment.
