Lafayette Central Park is a 501c(3) non-profit organization created to oversee the planning, design, development, and long-term operation and maintenance of a landmark, regional park. It will serve a population of approximately 230,000 residents of Lafayette Parish and provide a regional open space and an additional tourism draw for the Acadiana region. The park will serve as a catalyst project in the implementation of Lafayette's Comprehensive Plan, and several pending community/master plans, including multi-modal transportation connectivity improvements, which are integral parts of the MPO’s long-term transportation and bikeway plans. It will also provide major educational and recreational opportunities, and create synergies in the coordination and implementation of the new UL-Lafayette Campus Master Plan.

What are the goals and objectives for achieving such purpose?
Lafayette Central Park has been charged with creating an unprecedented public space in Lafayette that will improve our population’s access to greenspace. This has far-reaching implications on our City that will not only improve quality of life, but also serve as a catalyst project for economic development. It includes elements such as an amphitheater, gardens, tree houses, play ground, water feature, a Veteran's Memorial, a Farmer’s Market pavilion, a running and biking trail, walking paths, and native habitat restoration.
