Provide a summary of the project or program:
The Fiske Union Water System serves 600 customers to the West of Oak Grove in West Carroll Parish. They system is currently
in progress of performing major improvements to their water treatment plant, which is using the Parish ARPA, CWEF and their
local funds. They need additional improvements, but due to their water treatment plant project, they cannot afford the additional
improvements. The System is requesting Priority 1 (CLOC) funds to for this project. They are in need to two new supply pumps
to replace their existing pumps. These pumps supply the entire water system. They have been repairing their existing pumps, but
they have reached the end of their useful life. The system currently sends water from the elevated tank through their old
abandoned treatment plant, out to the distribution system. When temperatures freeze, the line in the old plant breaks, causing
large water losses and hinders the System's capabilities to provide water to their customers. The System would like to construct a
bypass line, demolish the existing treatment plant, and remove the unneeded valves from the water main. The existing water
meters are 30 years old and need replacing. Additionally, the System would like to install automatic read meters, in order to reduce
the monthly effort in reading meters for a rural water system. The System has purchased and installed approximately 150
automatic read meters. They are seeking to install AMRs on the remaining of their system. Also, they will reduce the overhead
costs with less days required to read the meters. The request can be completed with Year One's funding, with planning, permitting,
and construction. Project inspection ($16,300), permitting ($5,000), and agency administration ($7,000) have been included in
equipment costs. Since these are public facilities supplying the public, potable water, it is important that an inspector is present to
ensure that construction of the facilities meet all approved plans, specifications and codes.
