Louisiana Academy is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) tax-exempt community service organization committed to uplifting youth and families in Louisiana’s urban communities through quality, structured educational and social development programs. Established in 2010, Louisiana Academy was founded with the belief that every child—regardless of their background—deserves access to foundational skills, personal growth, and the opportunity to fulfill their fullest potential.
Operating at the intersection of education, social development, and community transformation, Louisiana Academy focuses on enhancing both academic and behavioral outcomes for youth, especially those who participate in athletic programs through our ongoing partnership with the Louisiana Youth Sports Network (LYSN). This grassroots collaboration has revealed critical gaps in the educational and social readiness of our participants—gaps that go beyond traditional academic challenges and often stem from deep-rooted social struggles.
Our Holistic Approach: Building the Child and the Environment
Through targeted programming, Louisiana Academy addresses two of the most persistent academic challenges facing students in underserved communities—Mathematics and Reading—while simultaneously developing social competencies in Conflict Resolution and Self-Worth. We believe the academic shortfall is often a symptom of a deeper issue: when children struggle with self-esteem or interpersonal conflict, their ability to focus, grow, and succeed in school is severely limited.
Our educational philosophy is grounded in the principle that success is built on a solid foundation. We start with the fundamentals—not only to improve immediate outcomes, but to spark a lifelong love of learning, self-respect, and leadership. We do not merely teach; we empower. Our volunteers, educators, and community mentors are committed to teaching to elevate—equipping each child not only with basic knowledge, but with the capacity to thrive far beyond the classroom.
Key Programs and Impact Areas:
	•	Academic Readiness: Tutoring and enrichment in core subjects like math and reading for K-12 students.
	•	Social & Emotional Development: Structured workshops in conflict resolution, communication skills, self-worth, and leadership.
	•	Family & Community Education: Extending our impact beyond the individual child by providing educational resources and training to families and community influencers.
	•	Youth Leadership Initiatives: Programs that instill responsibility, accountability, and pride in youth to become future changemakers in their neighborhoods.
Mission Statement
To enhance the educational and social skills of youth and young adults in Louisiana’s urban communities—to build leadership, establish pride, develop character, and promote self-discipline—and to firmly embed these qualities into their personal and social environments.
We believe that investing in youth is one of the most powerful ways to transform communities. As Proverbs 22:6 reminds us, “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” At Louisiana Academy, we are building more than programs—we are building futures, families, and neighborhoods.
