        Dow Westside YMCA Airnasium Project
The proposed Airnasium Project will expand opportunities for physical activity, recreation, and community engagement in West Baton Rouge. The covered, open-air structure will allow year-round fitness classes, youth sports, and wellness programs to help ensure more residents can stay active and connected. This project offers multiple public benefits: 1) Encourages physical activity and healthy habits for people of all ages, 2) Creates a safe gathering space for families and community events, 3) Strengthens social connections and supports community well-being to help enhance the quality of life. 
This project directly supports the YMCA’s mission and represents an important investment in the health and vitality of West Baton Rouge Parish.                   Goal 1: Expand access to safe, year-round recreation and fitness opportunities.
Objective 1.1: Construct a covered, open-air “Airnasium” structure by 2026 to provide weather-protected space for fitness classes, sports, and wellness programs.
Objective 1.2: Increase program capacity by 30% within the first year of operation through expanded youth sports, group exercise, and community fitness offerings.
Objective 1.3: Ensure the facility meets ADA accessibility standards to promote equitable participation for all residents.
Goal 2: Promote physical health and wellness for residents of all ages.
Objective 2.1: Host at least 250 hours annually of organized physical activity programs—including youth sports, senior fitness, and family recreation.
Objective 2.2: Partner with local schools and community organizations to provide at least four annual wellness or sports clinics that encourage healthy habits and lifelong activity.
Objective 2.3: Track participant engagement and health outcomes through YMCA membership and program data to measure impact on community wellness.
Goal 3: Strengthen community connection and social well-being.
Objective 3.1: Utilize the Airnasium as a venue for at least six community events or family engagement activities per year.
Objective 3.2: Increase partnerships with local agencies, civic groups, and employers to co-host community-based programs that promote inclusion, belonging, and volunteerism.
Objective 3.3: Create a sustainable operating plan ensuring that programming, maintenance, and staffing are supported through YMCA membership revenue, sponsorships, and grants.
